Sprout a Tree for Productivity

There's a book titled Indistractible by Nir Eyal. I wish I had read this at the beginning of the pandemic, but I'm still happy to be reading it now.

Indistractible is filled with approaches and tactics for really honing in on productivity and focus.

One of the recommended tools in the book is an app called "Forest." And I gave it a try for the first time today.

The idea is essentially to gamify your attention. Upon entering the app, you will be prompted to select a tree to plant. With it, you select a timer. Once you hit "plant", your virtual seed goes to work.

The tree will grow and be added to your virtual forest only if you leave the phone alone (i. e. don't navigate to other mobile applications) for the duration of the timer. The more successful intervals you have of not letting your phone distract you during work, writing, etc., the more you can grow your own magical forest.

In my opinion, this app is worth the $2 cost. The company has partnered with an organization called Trees for the Future and has contributed to planting over 1 million trees!

So this is a "recommend" from me (not a paid endorsement). Consider getting the Forest app and see if it helps improve your *sprints to get your most important work done.
